Swabs

General

Swabs are used for sampling with subsequent storage in transport medium for analysis in a laboratory. The design and quality of the swab are decisive for whether sufficient specimen material can be collected to identify any microorganisms.

Product description

SSI Diagnostica supplies cotton swabs, pertussis swabs and plastic/aluminium swabs from our own production. In addition, SSI Diagnostica sells flock swabs (FLOQSwabsTM) from Copan Diagnostics in Italy (www.copanusa.com).

FLOQSwabsTM are different from traditional swabs, which bind the specimen and do not elute. FLOQSwabsTM act as a brush, with the sample material sitting close to the surface of the swab. This allows an elution of the sample material in the liquid. FLOQSwabsTM are available in 100-piece packs either individually wrapped in foil or in tubes.
