ImmuLex™ Pneumococcus Antisera
Pneumococci are enclosed within a capsule consisting of repeated units of polysaccharides. The composition of the polysaccharides defines the serotype.
Product description
All SSI Diagnostica latex products are called ImmuLexTM (a contraction of Immunology and latex). The polyclonal pool, type and factor antisera are purified and coupled to blue latex particles. All of the products are absorbed free of cross-reactions.
Each product is supplied in a plastic bottle with 1.5 ml ready-to-use latex reagent, sufficient for approx. 75 tests.
Pool antisera are a mixture of antisera. Pools A-I contains antisera against all serotypes, while pools P-T are mixtures of antisera against the 23-valent vaccine serotypes. By combining the two pool systems (ImmuLexTM Pneumotest-Latex), the 23 serotypes can be serotyped easily to type/group level.
Contains antisera against
ImmuLexTM pool A, type 1, 2, 4, 5, group 18
ImmuLexTM pool B, type 3, 8, group 6, 19
ImmuLexTM pool C, type 20, 31, 40, group 7, 24

How to use
The latex products are used for serotyping based on agglutination. Equal quantities of latex reagent and bacterial culture are mixed on a white card which is tilted back and forth. The reaction must be read within 5-10 seconds.
Product range
The 14 pools can be bought individually or together in the ImmuLexTMPneumotest kit.
There are 5 type antisera and 9 factor antisera as latex products. These products cover the serotypes present in the 7-valent, 10-valent and 13-valent children’s vaccine.

Antibodies can be frozen, but the process of freezing and thawing is damaging for the antibod-ies, and the titer will drop (even though not dramatically) due to decomposition.
We have not made further studies on this, and cannot guarantee the stability of the sera, but we have experienced that mostly the titer stays at the same level if a serum only is frozen and thawn once.
Yes, it is possible, if you place an order in advance with the expected total volume for the period. In return we guarantee to keep the reserved lot for you.
Please send an inquiry. We might have it. Depending on the needed volume, we might be able to develop the requested product. It can be anything from a new pool composition to a new serum.
